Tithing

There have been some Sundays where I have not gotten my outline posted. I was asked about my sermon on tithing so I looked it up and here it is.

Lev 27:30-33

Today we come to the end of Leviticus. The very end of Leviticus is about tithing,
and redemption. We first hear of tithing
when Abraham gives Melchizedek a tenth of his wealth to honor God. Cain and Able we know were given some instructions
from God about giving but we do not know if it was first fruits offering or
tithing that Cain fail to follow. As Moses
is given the law from God tithing becomes a written instruction.

Introduction: Sampson, we have all heard the story and
remember how Delilah sold him out. But this
life of Sampson is very much the life of Israel and it could be the story of
our life today. We live in the greatest
land of opportunity there is. Ask any republican
or democrat and they will tell you how people without intelligence or wisdom
can rise up to senators and representatives.
No by opportunity we have easy access to God’s word, freedom to live it
and speak it. Sampson life ask the
question what will we do with it?

CONCLUSION: These are things we all
know. While we say “Me and My house” the
reality is that God gets squeezed out.
So take some time this week and decompress, rest in God’s hands until
the list goes away. Ask God to give you
your sense of time and space back, so you can serve Him, with all that you are
and not all that you have left.

the bible. Joshua destroying the cities,
not leaving anyone alive. We see this
type of ethnic cleaning barbaric. Why
would god judge these people in such a way?
But in the midst of this we find a warning to us today.

You are the key. By living and
teaching the forgiveness of God, your name goes into the Book of Life, and then
there is a greater possibility your family’s name will also.

INTRODUCTION: We all face
times of disappointment and struggle and if you have been following along in
Deuteronomy then you know the struggles and disappointments that Moses has gone
through. He has seen great victory and
has been brought down by rebellion. He
has made some mistakes and will pay the price for them. In this chapter we find Moses on Mt. Nebo,
looking into the promised land he will never set foot in. Moses is an old man, 120 years old. He was 80 when they left Egypt. Yet here we read that his eyes were not weak
nor his strength gone.
